I'm proud to announce the arrivial of 4 dream-worthy Morkie (Maltese x Yorkie) puppies on Dec 22nd. Born on the Eve of the Eve of Christmas Eve, these guys are destined for cuteness, and to think they haven't even opened their eyes yet. They'll be ready to go Feb 16, should be around 5-7 lbs, will be dewormed, vaccinated, and groomed, and are CKC registerable from AKC parents. There are 2 boys and 2 girls. Since the puppies are raised indoors and handled daily they're very friendly and affectionate. Mulan and Mushu are the smaller male and female, with Ping and Shang both being a little bigger.

Ping

Ping is a total snugglebug who loves to give kisses. She has white socks and toes. Ping is taking after her dad in her face and shorter height.

Mulan

Mulan is an outgoing explorer who wants to sit in every lap and chase every toy :) She's probably going to look like Sophie when she's grown.

Shang

Shang is a handsome boy who likes to sit in your lap and lick your fingers. He has almost no white on his toes and is stockier than Mushu.

Mushu

Mushu is the smallest puppy and is a really sweet boy with big white socks. He's all leg, just like Sophie, and is already a playful little guy.

Important Information

They're ready to go at 8 weeks, which is on February 16, or if more convientent the weekend of Feb 18-19. Shipping is $300 and can be done once the puppies reach 8 weeks old and weigh at least 2 lbs. Puppies will have recieved their first vaccination a few days before 8 weeks old, and will have been de-wormed at 2, 4, and 6 weeks old. They'll be bathed and have a hygiene trim which includes trimming their feet, face, and rear so they'll be not only clean but adorable too. To help make the transition to a new home easier they come with a blanket and toy. Paperwork that you recieve includes a contract, vaccination record, and a CKC registration application. They also have a personal photo album showing the puppy as it grows up, and a few pictures of their parents too. And there's room for more pictures of your own too. As you can probably guess I love taking pictures of the puppies, and try to have a weekly photoshoot for them. It gets harder as they get older though, since they go from wiggling away to tearing down the backdrop in a game of tug-a-war :P

What are the Parents Like?

Sophie is a stunning AKC registered Yorkie who has an unusually dark color. Rather than having her silky fur fade out to silver, it stayed a luxoriuous black, which goes great with her gold legs and head. Avoiding both the greasy, lank fur as well as the super fine fur, Sophie has lovely thick silky fur. Fur maintanence is easy with a bath and brush out every week or two, giving you the long flowing look that Yorkies are known for. I've had her fur grown out for so long I doubt I would recognize her without it!

She's a friendly and outgoing girl who has a fun personality, if her puppies are anything like her then they're going to be great dogs. While she weighs just 5 lbs Sophie is a little bit more square shaped than some yorkies that are more long and short, giving her longer legs that make her a great jogging and walking companion. Not to mention a great fetch player. Able to hold her own with larger dogs, Sophie has a confident attitude that I think makes her irresistable. That and her tail that is constantly held high as a banner of her personal excellence :)

Kodiak is a hearthrob worthy AKC registered Maltese weighing just seveng pounds. Like Sophie he believes in his own awesomeness as well as his ability to be loved by everyone he meets ;) For example, when he goes to the beach Kodiak likes to have adventures involving meeting new people, chasing seagulls, and even marking a sandcastle or two as his personal domain. Yes, Kodiak owns the beach. All of it. He's such a great guy though he lets other people play there too. At the end of his adventures he's ready for a ride in the arms of his human, as he looks out at his latest conquest. Don't you think that's what his eyes are saying?

What will the Puppies be Like?

In combining the personalities of Sophie and Kodiak I expect to have adventurous, affectionate, and absolutely awesome puppies. In other words they're all A's. The puppies could weigh between 5-7 lbs like their parents, but Kodiak has thrown slightly smaller and larger puppies so we can't say for sure. I expect them to stay black, but their legs and head may be a lighter gold then Sophie's color. Their fur should be thick and somewhere in between silky and fluffy. Sophies ears stand up and Kodiaks don't, so we'll have to wait until the puppies are older before we can tell what their ears will do. Yorkie puppies ears are normally standing by 8 weeks, but they can also be taped to get them to stand if it looks like they could be just half perked. Their tails are being left full length like a Maltese, making them all the more expressive and friendly. Who can resist a wagging tail after all?

How do You Raise the Puppies?

I believe that the first 8-12 weeks are the most important weeks of a puppies life, so I do my best to give these guys the best head start I can. They're handled daily following the Bio Sensor program, which involves early neurological stimulation exercises begin at 3 days old that help increase a puppies confidence, stress tolerance, and even disease resistance. Pad training starts about 3-4 weeks, right around the time they get their first tastes of softened dog food and cottage cheese. Normally puppies dig in with such gusto that they end up climbing into the food bowl and trying to eat it all before the others do :P The puppies are born and raised in my bedroom, and with plenty time in the kitchen and living room they get used to normal household noises like the TV, doors, dishwashers, and etc. These are no outdoor gun-shy puppies! They meet dogs, cats, and the occasional indoor chicken, all before they're 8 weeks old. It doesn't end there though, as the days between the age of 8-12 weeks are an essential period that has livelong effects on your puppy. It makes all the difference in having a confident, outgoing dog or a shy, nervous one. It's during this time that you're responsible for taking your puppy out of the house to have positive experiences with strangers and scary new places like big buildings, vets, and streets. If exposed to these things in a positive manner between 8-12 weeks old your puppy is more likely to accept them as normal and not be afraid of them, as he could be if you wait until the socialization period is closed after 12 weeks.
